Nagato was a sensitive, but kind boy, prone to crying, and was traumatized by the idea of killing others, even to save his friend Yahiko. Scared and unsure of his place in the world, he desired to help those he cared about, but never knew how. Nevertheless, he was a talented and gifted student, mastering every technique Jiraiya had taught him. He was consistently respectful and kind to Konan, who he claimed to be his "angel" in Amegakure. He was shown protecting her, without request or hesitation, from Jiraiya, before his battle with his former teacher. Apparently, she was the only Akatsuki member that addressed him by his names, Pain and Nagato.
As Pain, his personality was very different, having become a calm, serious, aloof, and detached man. Apparently believing traumas he experienced in his youth had enlightened him to the true meaning of pain and suffering, he considered himself a deity, and believed he had evolved beyond a mere human being. He sought to show the world the meaning of pain by using an ultimate weapon to deter future wars, by means similar to "mutually assured destruction", and showed no moral qualms about his actions. He was willing to kill Jiraiya to ensure the completion of his plans. He even went so far as to proclaim himself a "god of peace", that had to guide the world to maturity through pain. Finally, he felt that no-one could understand true peace unless they understood "true" pain, something his childhood friend Yahiko believed. Minato Namikaze believed Madara Uchiha to have been using this philosophy in his favor, in order to manipulate Nagato.
Nonetheless, he was seen to be quite respectful, particularly to the fallen and the dead

The Chakra Disruption Blades are blades made of the chakra receivers used by Nagato and connected to the Rinnegan and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, as the same rods are seen emanating from the statue to pierce Nagato at one point. Pain creates the blades as needed from both arms of each path (with preference on the right hand), with no apparent limit on the length as they emerge from what appears to be the third rod away from the hand on the forearm. Nagato can also detach the blade from the arms when requiring to use several of them, or to be thrown as harpoons.[1] Each of these blades disrupt the chakra of its victim, injuring them or rendering them incapable of moving. When a victim is stabbed by the blades, the Rinnegan appears in their mind, suggesting that Nagato has some degree of influence over them, similar to how he controls the Six Paths. The blades are very sharp, as they were able to pierce Naruto and Jiraiya's skin while they were in Sage Mode. In the anime, they are shown to have a red reflection. The blades are also hard enough to even break knives, despite of which, they can be broken with enough strength.
Out of all the Six Paths of Pain, the Deva Path uses the blades the most. Nagato, due to being immobile, can fire his chakra disruption blades from his mechanical seat, which then allows him to control the victims like one of the paths due to the close proximity between each other. While in Sage Mode, and thanks to the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox chakra, Naruto was able to resist Nagato's influence even after being impaled by one of these blades.

The Rinnegan (輪廻眼; Literally meaning "Samsara Eye") is said to be the most revered and powerful of all the three great dōjutsu. The Rinnegan's occurrence is so rare that Jiraiya once believed its existence was only a legend, and Kakashi Hatake believes it to be only a mutation. There have thus far been only two known users: the Sage of the Six Paths and Nagato. With the Sage long deceased, and Nagato now dead there are no other confirmed Rinnegan users alive at this point.
The Rinnegan is characterized by a ripple-like pattern around the pupil, with a grayish-purple iris and sclera. In addition to enabling the user to quickly master various jutsu, the user may also use all six forms of chakra nature transformation which, as noted by Ibiki Morino, literally allows its user to use any technique they wish. It also allows the user to use all of the six paths techniques, a series of ninjutsu unique to the Rinnegan user. Like the Sharingan and the Byakugan, the Rinnegan also allows the user to see chakra, including otherwise hidden barriers. According to Nagato's partner Konan, the possessor of the Rinnegan can also control the seventh path of Pain, who is "beyond life and death", that can use the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, which allows the Rinnegan user to revive all people who have recently died.

- 360-degree field of vision.

- Six Paths Technique: Nagato is able to make 6 versions of himself - all bearing the Rinnegan, and having the power, and knowledge of the original - these Paths are not Clones; each Path specializes in certain techniques. Each path brought forth during this technique lasts for 10 posts, and can't be used for the rest of the thread. This is an optional way to use the technique, instead of all the abilities in one body, they are divided into six bodies of the same person.

- Magic Lantern Body Technique: A group of individuals must sit down and then send out "thought waves", converted into chakra. These thought waves are then picked up by Nagato, acting as a kind of control tower. This technique amplifies the thought waves and broadcasts them to a specific location through illusionary bodies. The illusionary bodies differ from being mere reflections. While Shingen is relaying the peoples' thoughts, they can have conversation and use varying techniques.

These virtual images looked like the member they represented, the only difference being that they are standing up with their hands in a seal. The images were also transparent, save for the eyes. In the anime, the images were depicted refracting an array of spectral colors, much like a rainbow. Also their bodies would also distort and flicker, as if receiving electronic interference, and the member's voices would be altered the same way.

- Rain Tiger at Will Technique: A perception ninjutsu, allowing one to freely manipulate rain infused with the user's own chakra. The rain falls from rain clouds, formed with Nagato's own chakra. During this technique, the falling raindrops are closely linked to Nagato's senses. When the rain is obstructed by a chakra belonging to someone not of the village, the existence of the intruder can be detected. The rain will keep on falling until Nagato uses the seal to cancel it.

- Shapeshifting Technique: This technique allows Nagato to allocate chakra from someone else into a human sacrifice, allowing them to fight via an elaborate "copy". The appearance of the person on whom the Shapeshifting Technique is performed is 100% identical to the original person. The technique will imitate any weapons, tools or kekkei genkai held by the original person, allowing the copy to fight with them. The power of the copy is in proportion to the volume of allocated chakra, which is decided by Nagato. The original's technique are also available, but once the chakra runs out, the technique is canceled and the copy dies. As it even uses up the sacrifices chakra, this is an incredibly brutal technique.

- Summoning: Chakra Receivers: Nagato is able to implant chakra receivers into his targets, thus allowing him to transmit his chakra into the bodies and control them remotely as if they were his own. These receivers seem to be incredibly durable, as seen when Shizune was performing an autopsy on the first Animal Path and many knives were broken when sawing them off the body.

- Summoning: Demonic Statue of the Outer Path: Nagato can summon a giant statue that releases multiple chakra rods from its abdomen that would pierce his back. When the rods are in place, Nagato would be able to use the statue to spew a dragon-like creature from its mouth, which removes the souls of any person it comes in contact with. After serving its purpose, the chakra rods would break off and remain embedded in Kaito's back while the statue disappears. The technique will take a considerable toll on Nagato, who would become more and more emaciated for the duration of the technique. The emaciation would begin the moment the chakra rods are in place. Nagato has never resorted to using this technique, because he is well aware of the result of its power, and its effect on his body. The Demonic Statue of the Outer Path would last 5 posts if summoned.

This statue is later used for the Sealing Technique: Illusionary Dragon Nine Consuming Seals, which is to seal the nine tailed beasts. When used for this purpose, the statue has an added blindfold, a bit in its mouth, and shackles on its arms.

ANIMAL PATH JUTSU
[spoiler]- Amplification Summoning Technique: This is a summoning technique that in which the summoned creature is given a special condition and when that condition is met it gains a certain ability.

Nagato often applies this technique to his dog summon. Upon being struck by a direct attack, the canine can divide into another identical beast and increase its power. The beast can then recombine if needed, with one body carrying the heads of however many additional beasts were created.

- Summoning: Giant Drill-Beaked Bird: A large bird, the bird itself is unusual, as not only does it demonstrate a prominent and jagged beak, but it also features three distinct legs and wings. This summoning lasts 8 posts, with a 5 post cooldown.

Abilities
This summon can move at an incredibly fast speed, and can use that velocity combined with it's beak to form powerful dive attacks. The bird had additional abilities where it could lay a large quantity of eggs, that subsequently explode like bombs and while flying low towards its target it produced dust clouds strewn with lightning in its wake.

- Summoning: Giant Multi-Headed Dog: A large, multi-headed dog with wings. Anyone against the Giant Multi-Headed Dog are unable to prevent it from splitting and it only disappears once its summoner is weakened enough, or low on chakra. This summoning lasts for as long as Nagato still has his strength, and isn't weakened. Upon being deactivated it cannot be summoned until 5 posts.

Abilities
It can be modified by Nagato using the Amplification Summoning Technique, so that it can split apart, when struck, into individual dogs that can then merge back together. It gains additional heads every time it splits in this way, and each duplicated head looks like the original. This special summon can appear to alter its size-from several stories tall, to just as tall to fit underneath trees.

This dog is also physically strong and resilient, since it had shown being able to break through an ANBU Captains' Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop, Lightning Release: Sixteen Pillar Bind, and received no more than minor burns from Fire Release: Fired Pottery Technique despite having its legs cut off by the Wind Release: Wind Cutter.

Summoning: Giant Snake-Tailed Chameleon: A large chimera-like chameleon with snake for a tail. It was first summoned during Pain's fight with Jiraiya, swallowing Pain and then turning invisible to protect him and conceal his current location, and its chakra. This Summoning lasts for 10 posts, with a 5 post cooldown.

Summoning: Giant Panda: A large panda, it was first summoned during Pain's fight with Jiraiya to protect the former from the latter's Sage Art: Hair Needle Barrage. It has rock-like skin, making it a useful defense. The Giant Panda can move on its own, and due to its strict defense, it also has a strict offense. This Summoning lasts for 4 posts, with a 6 posts cooldown.

Summoning: Giant Ram: With an appearance similar to a large ram. It was first summoned during Pain's fight with Jiraiya, where it charged at Jiraiya, forcing him into some sewers. It's large, and heavy enough to work as a formidable offense and defense, and its charging is fast enough to make it quite a dangerous summoning to those in its way. This summoning lasts 10 posts, with a 3 post cooldown.

Summoning: Giant Rhino: A large rhinoceros. This large rhinoceros has a similarly large, and bulky build to the Giant Ram, but, instead of two horns it has one massive horn, and a size large enough to make a formidable offense, and defense. Though slower then the Giant Ram, it's rough skin makes it difficult to penetrate. This summoning lasts 10 posts, with a 2 post cooldown.

Summoning: Giant Crustacean: A large crustacean. It was first summoned during Pain's fight with Jiraiya, where it uses Water Release: Violent Bubble Wave as an attack and to clean Jiraiya's oil from Konan. The Giant Crustacean is capable of using high-leveled water techniques, and has armor that is difficult to penetrate, making it a formidable offense, and defense. This summoning lasts 5 posts, with a 5 post cooldown.

Summoning: Giant Centipede: A large centipede. It was first summoned during Pain's attack on Konohagakure to wreck havoc on the village. These Centipede have pretty powerful armor, making them formidable defenders, and slow, but heavy offenders. Shingen can summon up to 3 at once. Each of these summonings last for 5 posts, with a 2 post cooldown.

Mark: Nagato is able to mark the area he needs an actual companion, or a group of companions to arrive - the mark is located wherever he stands - which means there can be more then one mark depending on Matsuda's positions. These marks are invisible. Kaito can only 'mark' up to 6 locations.

Recall: Nagato uses this technique in collaboration with Mark, after marking one, or a few spots, he can smack his hand against the ground, and the ones who agreed to be called for the summoning appear on the marks.

- Bansho Ten'in: Banshō Ten'in is a technique similar to Shinra Tensei in that it manipulates gravity at the users will, however instead of pushing objects away, it draws them towards the user. This technique has a 1-post cooldown. If used on more then one person it has a 2-post cooldown.

- Chibaku Tensei: Chibaku Tensei is a special technique developed by the Sage of the Six Paths, who used it to create the moon and trap the Ten-Tailed Beast's body inside of it. The user creates a dark black sphere of gravity that, when thrown into the sky, attracts objects from all directions and pulls them into the sphere, compressing them together. The surrounding earth, including forests and mountains, are collected into a single point, piling on top of one another until it creates a large sphere. A large crater is left where the earth has been collected from. The user can then force the large crater to explode, or can steer it downward or in another direction. This technique can also be used to make unique Land masses, but requires quite a lot of chakra. After using this technique, it can't be used for another 10 posts.

- Shinra Tensei: Shinra Tensei is the ability to manipulate gravity at the users will to repulse matter away. Depending on the amount of force Nagato puts in this jutsu, it can easily shatter wood, bones, stone, metal, or even some of the most powerful defenses. By using this technique as a defensive measure, all attacks directed to the user will be deflected, no matter the size, power or mass. The only downside to this technique is that there is a short period when it is unusable after being used, though only for roughly five seconds.

Shinra Tensei can also be used on a larger scale for massive destruction. A massive gravity well is created above the target, crushing everything beneath in a titanic explosion. Using Shinra Tensei on this scale shortens Nagato's lifespan and leaves him unable to use Shinra Tensei for several minutes. Shinra Tensei is also shown to be used as a protective shield instead of pushing attacks away. The normal scale of this Jutsu has a 1-post cooldown, but, the massive (titanic)scale of this Jutsu has a 10-post cooldown.

- Ban'yuu Oshi: Ban'yuu Oshi is a moderated form of Shinra Tensei, however, instead of pushing objects nearby away, Nagato can push objects varying in size that are a distance away, in order to be used in combat. The pushing can happen quickly, and is done with the release of gravitational force from his hand in the direction of the object. He steers the object towards his target(s) though it doesn't take much chakra or thinking to do so. This technique has a cooldown of 1 post if used on a small-medium sized object, but a cooldown of 3 posts if used on a large object.

Flaming Arrow of Amazing Ability: Nagato releases condensed, and explosive chakra from any part of his body which fire at the speeds of a rocket. Upon focusing chakra to the wrist, or another connector, the chakra will be launched towards the target. This chakra can also act like a magnet, to draw the chakra back for preservation. The chakra also functions to protect the hand, allowing its powerful strike to severely damage rock, but not the body part itself.

Flaming Arrow Missiles: Nagato pulls out a string of his chakra, which is revealed to stem from the limb the string is being pulled from. The chakra-condensed missile-like offenses then can be launched, causing massive explosions. These missiles can also come out of the Amaru's body, and launched at the opponents directly with a homing effect.

Chakra Propulsion Boots: Nagato utilizes chakra that shoots out of his feet and/or hands to propel himself in a linear direction, greatly increasing his speed to much higher proportions.

Laser Explosion: Nagato releases chakra from the top of his head, or another part of his body, which then acts as a cannon. The cannon then releases a massive blast of chakra in the form of a laser, causing a powerful explosion that devastates the surrounding area.

Chakra Tail: Nagato condenses quite a lot of chakra which then comes from his lower back, and takes the form of a long, glowing tail of chakra. It works as a powerful defense, and a mighty offense if hit accurately. This tail is long enough to coil around Nagato's body.

Mind Reading: Nagato, simply by placing his hand over the target's head, can extort any information or secret being hidden by the victim against his/her own will. Physical contact is required for the Mind Reading to be successful.

Soul Removal (NPC's Only): By placing his hand on a target's head this technique allows Nagato to rip the victim's soul out of his or her body. This results in the victim's death. It can only be used against NPC's, and physical contact is required.

Summoning: Outer Path: The Outer Path (外道, Gedō) is the seventh path of Pain, not included with the main Six Paths of Pain. It has control over Life and Death. When used by Nagato, it's used for interrogation and rejuvenation.

It is used by Nagato for interrogation and is capable of discerning whether an individual is lying or not. When implemented on a target, a serpent-like apparition of their life force energy in the form of an enlarged tongue emerges from their mouth and is presented to the figure. The Outer Path then proceeds to pass its judgment on the victim. If they are lying (or refuse to answer the question), their life force energy is ripped out by its two hand-shaped tongues and consumed, leading to the victim's death. If the target is telling the truth, it lets go of the protrusion leaving the target alive but extremely exhausted. When Matsuda uses this technique, the figure possesses the Rinnegan similar to how the Animal Path's summons all possessed the Rinnegan under Nagato's control. The Outer Path can only be seen by the ones it's being used upon.

For its second ability, the Outer Path can repair Nagato, or his companions should they be damaged or killed. When it consumed the remains of the Asura Path controlled by Nagato, the path emerged from the figure fully restored and was even wearing a new Akatsuki robe (the body had discarded its previous robe). While the Outer Path is being used for this, it seems that others are able to see it, unlike when it is being used for interrogation purpose. However, the only person to actually look at it while it was being used for this purpose was Naruto while in Sage Mode, so normal people cannot see it, even for revival.

Lastly, the Outer Path can be summoned for the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, where Nagatp can release life force energy to people who were recently killed and allow their souls to return to their rejuvenated bodies. This jutsu can only be used by Matsuda, the main entity bearing the Rinnegan, and the one in control of the Six paths technique. This power is said to transcend even the very concepts of life and death.

Naraka Release: Naraka Release is a technique which amplified Nagato's strength, thus making his taijutsu more affective against the opponent(s). This lasts for 10 posts.

Chakra Absorption Technique: The Chakra Absorption Technique allows the user to absorb an opponent's chakra. It has been shown that stored-up energy can also be released in the form of a shock wave.

The user doesn't have to actually touch the opponent as it can be used through other mediums which chakra can be channeled, as Jirōbō did with his Earth Release Barrier: Earth Prison Dome of Magnificent Nothingness. This technique can be used 8 times in a thread, then it has a 5-post cooldown.

Chakra Absorption Spreading Technique: Nagato is able to drain the chakra from those within 30ft of his position, thus effectively weakening more then one opponent, and refreshing his own chakra, enabling him to use more jutsu. This technique can be used 2 times in a thread with a 5-post cooldown.

Blocking Technique Absorption Seal: A highly advanced sealing technique that is capable of absorbing any chakra, regardless of any spacial or nature transformation, and dispersing it within one's body by spinning the chakra within one's body in the opposite direction. As a result, this technique can absorb any ninjutsu based technique, regardless of power, without harming the user.

Should the user get close enough to grab the opponent, the barrier can absorb chakra right out of an individual's body, effectively draining them (similar to the Chakra Absorption Technique). This technique has a 4 post cooldown.

During the Second Great Shinobi World War, Nagato used to live with his parents in a village near Amegakure. One day two Konoha shinobi broke into their home looking for food, unaware that the place was still inhabited. Nagato's parents, believing they were going to be killed, attacked the two so that Nagato could escape. Having mistaken them to be enemy ninja, the Konoha ninja killed his parents. In his grief, Nagato awakened his Rinnegan and killed the assailants. He would come to consider this incident the first great pain of his life.
His family gone, Nagato wandered the country, going from house to house asking for food. In time he met a dog named Chibi and later, Konan and Yahiko, who began traveling with him in his search for food. One day, Chibi was killed in the crossfire from Hanzō's fight with the soon to be Sannin. Nagato mourned his death and promised himself that he would change the world. Soon afterwards the war ended, and the three orphans ran into the Sannin. Rather than return to Konoha with his team-mates, Jiraiya decided to teach the three how to look after themselves.Soon after Jiraiya began living with the orphans, Nagato and Yahiko were attacked by an Iwagakure ninja. Nagato reactivated his Rinnegan to defend Yahiko, killing the ninja. When Jiraiya found out about this, he decided to train them in ninjutsu. Nagato was very emotional about killing the ninja, and asked Jiraiya for help so he could protect Konan and Yahiko. Jiraiya's response was for Nagato to grow up and to use his eyes to find the peace that they both desired for the world. Three years later the orphans had become competent ninja, so Jiraiya returned to Konoha.
Over the years, news of the three's exploits would reach Jiraiya. This often consisted of the death of someone who opposed them; eventually he received word that they had all died. In truth, Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko began a quest to find peace. They became full-fledged Amegakure ninja and gathered followers who shared their philosophies of an end to war. The leader of Amegakure, Hanzō, viewed the group as a threat to his position as leader and schemed with Konoha's Foundation to eliminate them. Claiming to want to discuss peace, Hanzō lured Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan to an ambush. There he forced Nagato to choose between killing Yahiko or Konan. Not wanting to force Nagato to make the choice, Yahiko impaled himself with a kunai that was placed in Nagato's hand. With Yahiko's dying breath, he told Nagato to survive, because he believed in Jiraiya's words that Nagato would become the world's savior. This would become the second great pain of Nagato's life.
Devastated, Nagato retrieved Konan and Yahiko's body and launched an attack against Hanzō's men. With the Summoning: Demonic Statue of the Outer Path he was able to kill all but Hanzō. However, the technique left Nagato emaciated, with numerous chakra rods embedded in his back. He severed his loyalties with Amegakure by scratching through the symbol of his Amegakure forehead protector, resolving to teach the village and the world his pain. Yahiko's body would later be incorporated into the Six Paths of Pain as the Deva Path.
Upon adopting the alias "Pain", Nagato led the rebelling forces in the Amegakure civil war, and took control of the village by assassinating Hanzō. He then solidified his leadership by systematically killing anyone who had direct ties to the former leader. At some point he assisted Madara Uchiha in the creation of Akatsuki, using Amegakure as his base of operations.

-Kaito heard a voice calling his name, he recognized that voice, he said calmly Hokage.. as his pupil dilatoin can be easily noticed, he remembered what happend to his parents.. It's not a stupid plan, no one of your toys can stop me! Im going to take my revenge in any price! he yelled at him Are you going to sacrifice those two ANBU too? it seems you don't care about any of your shinobi, I'll show you the price. as he used Body Flicker to appear between the two ANBU and pulled out his both Katanas and slashed them in their chest at the same time. He then jumped landing on the ground silently FIGHT ME HOKAGE!! OR ARE YOU TOO SCARED?! he yelled at him as he did some handseals Earth Release: Destructive Rising Rock Pillars Pillars of rocks emerged from the ground breaking the tree, this technique was to make the Hokage get down on the ground, after that he did other handseals quickly Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Missile Kaito made using his fire chakra a dragon-form and shot it at "Flower Boy" he smiled This is nothing... wait and you'll taste the pain I can cause to you.. he said

-Kaito saw 10 flower shurikens sailing at him, he blocked most of them with his twin Katanas but got hit by one in his arm, and all you can see was smoke and the shadow clone poofed while the bullets hit a tree, he said from the top of the montain Do you really think Im that stupid Hokage? and what about the truth Kuju? your plans for me? tell me.. as he jumped on the ground making some handseals Earth Flow River the ground under the Hokage transformed to mud to make him lose balance, after that move he made other handseals Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet at that moment a dragon-like head came out and started firing mud at him and for the big end, Fire Release: Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique Kaito was shooting fireballs from his mouth that combined with the mud balls and transformed to lava.
